The Vicat needle apparatus is used to determine the setting time and consistency of cement, gypsum, plaster, or similar materials. It assesses how long it takes for a paste to achieve a certain state of stiffness, which is critical for ensuring material usability and performance. As per IS 2542 (P-1), ASTM C472,EN 196-3,BS 4550 Part 3 Section 3.5

Applications:

Is used to determine the volume of water required for mixing Gypsum Plaster When performing the setting time and compressive strength test.

Apparatus Details:

Complete with following parts and accessories

  1. Brass rod of 6.35 mm diameter to fit the vicat bracket.
  2. Conical plunger, Aluminum cone with angle 53° 8 min, 45 mm height 
  3. Vicat mould 60/70 diameter x 40 mm 
  4. The total weight of the rod & plunger will be 35 grams.
  5. Glass plate 110 x 110 x 3 mm
