Double walled, Inner chamber S.S.304, Outer G.I.Powder coated, Digital temp.controller, with Motorized stirrer and S.S.platform for placing the Test Tube Rack. Supplied complete with a Test Tube rack to place 40 MBRT test tubes at a time. MBRT test may be utilized for grading of milk which may be useful for the milk processor to take a decision on further processing of milk. As per BIS 1479 (Part 3): 1977.

INTRODUCTION

Methylene Blue Dye Reduction Test, commonly known as MBRT test is used as a quick method to assess the microbiological quality of raw and pasteurized milk. This test is based on the fact that the blue colour of the dye solution added to the milk get decolourized when the oxygen present in the milk get exhausted due to microbial activity. The sooner the decolourization, more inferior is the bacteriological quality of milk assumed to be. This test is widely used at the dairy reception dock, processing units and milk chilling centres where it is followed as acceptance/rejection criteria for the raw and processed milk

MBRT test may be utilized for grading of milk which may be useful for the milk processor to take a decision on further processing of milk. As per BIS 1479 (Part 3): 1977.

Procedure:

The test has to be done under sterile conditions. Take 10 ml milk sample in sterile MBRT test tube. Add 1 ml MBRT dye solution (dye concentration 0.005%). Stopper the tubes with sterilized rubber stopper and carefully place them in a test tube stand dipped in a MBRT water bath maintained at 37±1⁰C. Record this time as the beginning of the incubation period. Decolorization is considered complete when only a faint blue ring (about 5mm) persists at the top.

  7. Bath is fitted with specially designed Tubular Heating Element extending to the length of the bath for uniformity of temperature
  8. Temperature Range : Ambient + 5 °C to 99.9 °C,
  9. Temperature Accuracy : ± 0.1 °C at 37 °C
  10. Temperature Uniformity : ± 0.2 °C at 37 °C
  11. Fitted with Microprocessor based PID Digital Temp. indicator cum controller with dual output connection for temp. and to Buzzer.
  12. Water bath is fitted with a buzzer alarm for alerting the user on reaching the set point.
  13. The Buzzer alerts the user at every 30 minutes time interval
  14. Bath Panel consists of 2 pilot LED lamps & on/off switch
  15. Bath is also equipped with a constant speed stirrer for uniform temperature distribution throughout the chamber.
  16. The stirrer with electric motor is mounted on the side of the bath at the top.
  17. The electric motor of the stirrer will be of Godrej / Crompton Greaves/ any other reputed make
  18. Stirrer paddles will be of stainless steel material to offer corrosion resistive performance.
  19. The stirrer is so fitted in such a way that, it does not obstruct the working area.
  20. Instrument is also equipped with drainage valve facility to empty the bath after the end of experiment.
  21. Supplied with a Stainless steel Test Tube stand to accommodate 40 Nos. MBRT Tubes. But Supplied without MBRT Tubes, rubber stopper.
