RELATIVE DENSITY APPARATUS-(ASTM D4253)
Relative density (also called density index) measures the compactness of cohesionless soils (sands, gravels). It indicates how close the soil is to its loosest or densest state, useful in foundation design, compaction control, and evaluation of liquefaction potential.

The equipment comprises following :
- A motorized vibratory table of dimensions 75mm x 75mm .
- It will vibrate at a frequency of approx. 3600 vibration per minute under a load of 115 kg with fixed amplitude. It will be suitable for operation on 415V, 50Hz, 3‑Phase AC Supply.
- Cylindrical Mould of 3000 cm3 capacity complete with guide sleeves and clamp, assembly surcharge weight with base plate and handle is equivalent to 140 gm/cm2.
- Cylindrical Mould of 15000 cm3 capacity complete with guide sleeves and clamp, assembly surcharge weight with base plate and handle is equivalent to 140 gm/cm2.
- Dial Gauge Holder
- Dial Gauge 0.01mm x 50mm with travel with extension piece ‑ 1 No
- Calibration bar 75mm x 300mm x 3mm ‑ 1 Set
- Complete with Tool Kit & Instruction Manual.
Note :
Additional accessories such as Pouring device, Scoop, Funnel, Straight edge, Electronic weighing balance & Oven are required to conduct the entire test. These items are available at extra cost. Portable Floor crane to handle the heavy surcharge weights can also be supplied at extra cost
