HOEK CELL FOR ROCK TRIAXIAL - NX - 54.7MM
Hoek cells have been designed to be used for triaxial testing of rock specimens. Hoek cells comprise a steel body complete with two quick release self-sealing couplings, two steel end caps which are screwed to the cell body, 2 pieces of upper and 2 pieces of lower loading caps with spherical coupling and a rubber sealing sleeve to separate the specimen from the cell fluid.
Compliance :
ASTM D7012,IS 13047:1991,IS 9179,ASTM D5407,EN 1926 / EN 14580, ISRM
Applications:
Hoek Cells are designed for Testing Triaxial strengths of Rock or Concrete samples up to a Pressure of 40MPa. These are designed to accept samples of NX size. Tests carried out on a series of samples under different confining pressures allow the user to determine:
• Strength & Elastic properties
• Shear strength at different confining pressures
• Angle of Shearing Resistance & Cohesion
• Modulus of Elasticity & Poisson’s Ratio
Core Specifications:
- Sample Diameter: 54.7 mm (standard NX core).
- Maximum Lateral Pressure: 150 kg/cm² (150 bar / approx. 15 MPa).
- Body Finish: Hard chrome plated for rust-proofing and corrosion resistance.
- Inlet/Outlet: Equipped with two quick-release self-sealing couplings for efficient fluid management.
Key Components
- Cell Body: Robust steel construction designed to withstand high lateral pressures without deformation.
- End Caps: Two threaded steel caps that screw directly onto the cell body to secure internal components.
- Loading Caps & Pistons:
- Upper Assembly: Two pieces featuring a spherical seat for uniform axial load distribution.
- Lower Assembly: Two pieces featuring a radial groove for improved stability or fluid drainage.
- Sealing Sleeve: One-piece rubber sleeve that isolates the rock specimen from the hydraulic oil, allowing for rapid core insertion and removal without draining the fluid.
- Hoek Cell to accept samples of EX, AX, AQ, BX, BQ, NQ, HQ, HQ3, PQ, PQ3 also available.
